Jaguar 8, Shipston Ladies 3
SHIPSTON felt the strain of playing six league games in a row.
After arriving late and seeing and their warm up interrupted, the side's desire to win was lacking because of previous heavy defeats.
They started the game with some swift attacks, an early goal would have boosted Shipston's morale, but the attacks were unsuccessful.
Unfortunately, the home side scored first after just five minutes. Their second and third goals followed within ten minutes - the second from a messy squabble and a third from a lifted flick.
Shipston's spirits were raised a little when Jackie Williams scored after weaving through the defence to turn and smack the ball on to the boards.
Player of the match Emma Davies then made good coverage of the pitch to produce precise through balls but Jaguar's defence was outstanding and persistently managed to turn the tables and get the ball into their attacking half. They scored once more before half-time to leave Shipston an even bigger mountain to cimb.
The visitors changed formation frequently in a bid to score goals and maintain defence. On the restart Williams scored again, but Shipston's glimmer of hope was dashed as Sutton regained possession to score straight away.
As in the first half, the home side scored three more goals in a short period of time before Shipston scored againin the last five minutes through Annie Lissington.
Shipston's weaknesses were obvious and they will try to correct this in their friendly this week.
