A MAN with learning difficulties was robbed of £210 in his own home, Worcester Crown Court heard.
Tudor Dale answered the door to two youths, who walked in uninvited and asked for money.
Teenager Michael Carter then picked up an umbrella from the hallway and threatened to hit Mr Dale over the head unless he stopped blocking their way to a dining room, said Samantha Crabb, prosecuting.
The cash was grabbed from a table at the house in Pennine Close, Hereford, but both youths were quickly arrested in a nearby street by a police officer.
Carter, aged 17, of Commercial Road, Hereford, denies robbing 52-year-old Mr Dale on Sunday, August 19.
Miss Crabb said Mr Dale, who also suffers from eyesight problems, became confused after the defendant told him his mother was in hospital and he wanted cash.
The youths demanded to watch TV and he turned his set on for them.
But when he realised they could see into his dining room he shut the door and tried to block the entrance.
Police found a total of £270 on the youths.
Miss Crabb alleged at the end of a police interview the defendant accepted he had made a threat to hit Mr Dale with the umbrella. She claimed he also fully accepted that he had taken the money.
Mr Dale told the jury he was alone at home when the youths barged in. He shut his dining room door because one youth had his eyes on a money box.''
The trial continues.
