SAILING: Sunday's final race was abandoned for the second time in recent weeks as mixed conditions hit Trimpley Sailing Club.
The day began with a light but steady breeze as Roger Stretton took the noon single-handed race.
Stretton beat Mick James in a tense and close encounter with Jeff Halford third.
The Tom and Simon Fletcher combination won the noon Frostbite race from Alan and John Hope with new helm Andy Calder and crew Terry Bolton in third place.
But the wind began to drop away for the first of the main series races which saw boats struggling to complete one lap of the pool.
The race was eventually won by John Hingley and Ian Bradley from the Fletchers with Stretton and Mick taking third place.
The final race was abandoned as the wind finally gasped its last breath and fell away to nothing.
In the Laser class, Tom Jeffs was the only sailor in the first race.
In the second, Eddy Hillman was a comfortable winner from Jeffs who won the handicap result by just one second on count-back.
On Saturday, Rob Hart and crew Paul Wooddisse had two close and competitive races against club commodore Keith Young and Dave Hayes in the GP14 series.
Hart took the first race by only 20 seconds though Young won the race on handicap.
The result was the same in the second race with Hart stretching his lead to almost one minute.
The handicap result went to Young by a mere two seconds.
