Ledbury Town 7, Evesham Utd 5
AN AMAZING final 16 minutes saw United concede four goals as they crashed out of the Worcester Royal Infirmary Challenge Cup on Tuesday.
The visitors lost goalkeeper Danny Watson when leading 5-3 but that handicap didn't strike any sympathy from manager Phil Mullen.
"It was very very poor defending and every time they broke upfield they scored," explained the United boss.
"We didn't cope very well with the simple game they played and I left the players know in no uncertain terms just what I thought about it."
Despite going a goal down in the first minute to a Duncan Preedy, brother of Phil, strike, a strong Evesham side hit back to lead 4-1 at the break thanks to a Paul Davies hat-trick.
Dean Roberts had earlier levelled and, when substitute Andy Hodgetts made it 5-2 after the break, the game seemed as good as over until Duncan Preedy's second revitalised the hosts leaving stand-in keeper Mark Wolsey and the small army of Evesham followers in a state of total shock at the final whistle.
