WARWICKSHIRE Cricket Board has been holding a series of indoor camps to encourage women to try the game.
The camps will be held at Edgbaston Cricket Centre each Sunday between now and Christmas.
Kelly Evenson, Cricket Devel-opment Officer for WCB and Sports Birmingham said: "The camps have been really successful, so far we have had 80 girls and women joining us.
"The 90-minute sessions are spent playing games and trying out some of the basics of cricket in a fun, non competitive environment. This is just the right way to find out if you would like to go further in cricket."
Last year women's cricket was the fastest growing sport in the UK.
Richard Cox, WCB's Director of Cricket added: "The success of these camps has led us to extend the camp up to Christmas in order to give more girls and women the chance to get an insight into the game.
"It also gives us the opportunity to formulate a stronger plan of action for individual coaching over the winter period."
Warwickshire Cricket Club has four women's squads benefiting from training throughout the winter at under-13, 15, 17 and adult levels and has entered a team into the National Indoor League, under the name of Stumps Villa Park.
Camps will be held each Sunday between now and Christmas, so if you would like to attend then call the Cricket Board on 0121 446 3615 and speak to Kelly Evenson or Richard Cox.
Divided into 90 minute sessions by age group, the under 13s session runs from 1pm to 2.30pm, under-15s and 17s are held between 3pm and 4.30pm and the adult session is from 5pm to 6.30pm.
