CASH is on offer for artistic groups in the Evesham area.
The First Base scheme, which is being run by Worcestershire County Council's art service, is offering start up grants to new or existing community groups with an urge to sing, dance, perform, write or make films.
The aim of the scheme is to encourage creative pursuits which bring the arts into the community.
Up to £500 per successful application is available, with an average grant of £350, to be used to start the ball rolling for further funding.
Louise James, the assistant county arts officer, said: "Anyone who's tried to get a creative project off the ground knows just how difficult it can be to secure that first stage of funding.
"This is the gap that First Base can fill. We are hoping for a great response to the offer because there are so many talented groups around Worcestershire who just need a catalyst to turn ideas into reality. Last time around First Base helped to fund a Flamenco dance group, young script writers, jazz festivals and sculptural artists, amongst others. We are encouraging any group with a good idea to get in touch and find out how we can help."
Interested groups should call 01905 766247 to find out if they are eligible for a cash grant.
