The Fairground Calendar was the topic at the November meeting, when Graham Downie gave an illustrated talk showing the progress of the fair from prehistoric times, up to the present day.
Originally seasonal meetings for trade and entertainment, the majority of fairs are now just for amusement.
However, there are still sheep and horse fairs in parts of Britain, and until very recently there was an onion fair in Aston, Birmingham.
He also told of "mop" fairs, where labourers looking for work could present themselves to employers.
This year the Christmas lunch will be at the Running Horse, Bewdley.
The December meeting will be a Christmas party, with an American supper, at the Trinity Church Centre, on December 18, starting at 2pm.
