THREE girls from Greenhill School in Evesham travelled to Worcester Tria-thlon Club for Sunday's annual Winter Biathlon held at the RNIB College in Worcester.
The event follows the main adult competition and involves a 400-yard swim followed by an 800m run.
It was a reasonably chilly afternoon so the transition between swim and run involved putting on running shoes as well as a t-shirt over a wet swimming costume when exiting the swimming pool, for warmth more than any other reason.
Jorden Parsons, competing in the age nine category, was the first girl home after a close sprint over the last 50m.
Sisters Sarah and Hannah Shepherd, competing in the age ten and 11 category, finished a very creditable fourth and fifth respectively.
The pair battled it out on the run as Sarah managed to claw back the slight lead Hannah had gained on the swim leg.
The girls, and no doubt some of their colleagues, will now be training hard for the club's next biathlon in March.
