A SALFORD Priors software firm has had its relocation plans rejected by councillors despite a pledge to offer more jobs and improve local public transport.

Misys, based at Burleigh House, had planned to offer an extra 26 jobs if its application to build a modern two-storey building at Lauriston Park, Pitchill, was approved by Stratford District Council.

The company also included a Green Transport Plan, proposing to improve an hourly bus service between Stratford and Evesham, making it half-hourly, although the plan was still to be agreed by Warwickshire County Council.

The application was passed to the district planning and regulation committee for final approval earlier this year.

But on November 21, it refused the proposal, objecting to the building's design, which was described as "too urban", and because it went against planning policy.

Salford Priors Parish Council clerk Eric Mitchell said the parish, which had supported the application, was disappointed with the committee's decision.

He added: "The council still supports the idea of Misys relocating its headquarters to the new site.

"It's now up to the company to decide if it is going to appeal against the decision.

"The council is hoping that Misys will rise to it and see if they can find a way through."

The Journal asked Misys if it had any plans to appeal against the planning decision but the company declined to comment.
