FOND memories and stories of Buck Street, in St John's, were swapped at a reunion of people who grew up there.
Nineteen residents past and present met in Squires Restaurant, at Worcester College of Technology, yesterday.
The group, some of whom travel from homes away from the city, meet around four times a year for coffee mornings and meals.
The reunions were started by Betty Lewis four years ago.
"I began organising coffee mornings and it snowballed from there," she said.
"We had a great time in Buck Street," said former resident Doris Hunt.
"We lived through the war there, celebrated VE day and had a street party for the coronation. Everybody helped everybody else and all the children would play together in the street.
"There was a real community spirit, which is sadly lacking in this day and age," she said.
The residents in the street used to go on trips together to the seaside and held street parties.
Some of the people at the reunion had met their spouses while growing up on Buck Street.
"We never locked the doors. It was a lovely street, the best street in Worcester," said Diane Porter.
