A FATHER-OF-TWO was caught speeding to work after he had overslept.
One of Malvern dad Kevin Wilson's children had been ill during the night.
Droitwich magistrates heard that Wilson exceeded the speed limit on Thursday, October 12 as he tried to get to work on time.
"It was 5.50am and the defendant was driving along Townsend Way, Malvern," said Peter Parsons, prosecuting.
"He was spotted by a police officer who realised he was going over the speed limit.
He was following the defendant going approximately 50mph while negotiating two roundabouts.
The speed limit is 40mph.
"He stopped at Sandys Road and told the police officer the car needed warming up because it had synthetic oil in it."
Wilson, aged 28, of Pound Bank Road, admitted speeding.
"I have to be at work by 5.55am each day," he said, defending himself.
"I was running late.
"I've got two young children. One wasn't very well in the night.
"I overslept."
The factory worker was fined £70 and his licence was endorsed with three penalty points.
He was also ordered to pay £35 costs.
