THE Christmas fayre held at Guarlford Village Hall last Saturday was very well supported. There was a happy festive atmosphere with Father Christmas in attendance. The usual stalls selling cakes, decorations and crafts, kitchen and bathroom wares, brick-a-brac, bottle tombola, teas and a grand raffle all helped to boost the funds. Over £800 was raised.
Last Sunday evening the Advent Carol Service was held at St Mary's Church, Guarlford when the theme was "Kingship". The six Advent hymns reflected the kingship of Jesus, with readings from the prophets, psalms and the gospel interspersed. The service was led by the vicar Rev David Nichol who also led the intercessions and the readers were members of the congregation. The choir from St Peter's, Powick, joined the Parish Singers to sing People Look East and The Angel Gabriel conducted by Margaret Tarr. The first candle of the Advent wreath was lit at the beginning of the service, and the organist was Carlton Tarr.
St Mary's Church, Madresfield held a Christingle service last Sunday morning in aid of the Children's Society which supports vulnerable young people and young runaways on the streets in this country.
