Performing as part of his latest tour, Van Morrison wowed Malvern audiences with two shows in one night.
While avoiding the more familiar pages of his back catalogue, Morrison played an upbeat set of jazz-infused numbers.
Performing songs drawn mainly from his more recent albums, it was a kind of unclassifiable music, caught somewhere in between jazz, soul, blues and rock.
Whatever the type of music, tunes like Days Like This got the audience's toes tapping.
With the artist alternating between the saxophone and guitar, the gig was a perfect showcase for his consummate musicianship as well as his impeccable singing.
He was backed by a superb seven-piece group with musicians who were happy playing the guitar, flute or saxophone.
Van Morrison was also looking rather dapper himself in a black suit and shades topped by his usual brimmed hat.
Supporting act was 1960s-pop idol Chris Farlowe who played songs from his new album as well as old classics Handbags & Gladrags (recently covered by the Stereophonics) and Out Of Time. For an encore, 'Van the Man' and Chris teamed up for a powerful version of the soul classic Stand By Me. Richard Milne
