A SCHEME to launch tethered balloons at Upton Marina showing the extent of the proposed redevelopment was due to take place today (Friday).
Landscape architects Carly Tinkler Associates is carrying out an environmental impact assessment of the proposed changes, which include a number of holiday chalets.
The plan to fly helium-filled balloons showing the height and extent of the development failed to get off the ground on two previous occasions.
On the first attempt, three of the six balloons were stolen and another burst. The firm then waited until late October for leaves to drop from the trees but the warmest October since records began meant there were still plenty left and the view was obscured.
The balloons were being launched at midday today by youngsters from Ripple, Ryall and Holly Green. They will remain up for 24 hours.
Carly Tinkler has appealed for people to contact her company to let them know how far away they can be seen. She is confident that this time the experiment will prove successful.
"The weather forecast is good and I think all the leaves have fallen from the trees that are going to," she said.
Despite the delay, she is confident the environmental impact assessment will be completed by Christmas. The company can be contacted on 01684 560330.
