CONMEN posing as water company employees stole £1,000 from an elderly woman in Upton.
Police have warned householders to be on the alert following the incident last Friday (November 30), when two youths bluffed their way into the house at Hillsfield between 3.30pm and 4.30pm.
"We urge people to make sure they know who they are talking to and whether they are genuine," said PC Claire Ryan.
"If you have any doubts, don't let the callers in and don't let them distract you by talking outside.
"Always ask for identification, genuine callers do not mind you keeping them waiting while you check.
"Only when you are satisfied that the caller is genuine should you let them onto any part of your property."
