IN response to H R Pooley's letter (Postbag, November 16), my husband and I (both town councillors) were incensed by his remarks.
Over the last few years, Ledbury councillors have met with police on many occasions to try to improve local policing and combat the rising crime rate.
We, as a council, have limited powers and can only represent our townspeople's views. Due to Government policy, the police have had restrictions on finances and manpower, especially in rural areas such as Herefordshire.
The vandals in this town are children of Ledbury citizens, who seem to have little inclination to discipline or show any interest in their illegal activities.
If Mr Pooley would like to attend any of the council meetings (at least three a month), I think he would be surprised at the pro-active stance the town council takes.
COUN JAYNE ROBERTS, Falcon Lane, Ledbury.
