MORE than 100 competitors flocked to the Worcester Winter Biathlon where the city's triathlon club starred.
The race, at the RNIB took place over a 400 metre pool swim followed by a tough 5km run.
Competitors travelled from as far away as Liverpool for this very popular winter race.
The main event was followed by a children's race with a 100 metre swim and then an 800 metre run -- more than 30 children competed with plenty of vocal support from parents and spectators.
Club members excelled themselves with the top places going to the following in the age groupings: Female Youth: Jemima Twist 27.15. Male Youth: Alec Bond 28.01; Male Junior: Jonathan Stedman 24.04; Female Vet: Ros Townsend-Hope 30.32; Male Master Super Vet: Mike Hedges 28.45; Male Ultra Vet: Les Bailey 29.12.
Other club members' times were:
Simon Barringer 25.49; Kevin May 26.14; Richard Stedman 30.04; Peter Bond 30.45; Freddie Twist 31.52; Huw Burton 32.29; Alexandra Preston 33.33; Paul Wyatt-Davies 37.26.
Overall winner of the race was Mike Cornes -- Birmingham Uni Tri in a fast time of 21.35 and the first lady was Chrissy Radon -- Birmingham Uni Tri in 24.04.
Winners of the children's race were: Eight year class: Morgan Hirsch 5.27; Nine year class: Oliver Davey 5.20; 10 year class Rhys Davey 4.56; 11 year class: Joe Dyer 4.27; 12 year class: Emily Davey 5.47.
