MALVERN Town play their first home Saturday Express and Star West Midlands Premier Division game since mid September, when title favourites Causeway United visit the Langland Stadium tomorrow (Saturday), kick-off 2.45pm.
Town inflicted only one of two defeats on their high-flying opponents back in October, but since then Malvern have struggled to break away from the shackles of a mid table position, a fact not helped by increasing injury and availability issues, which reach epidemic proportions for Saturday's game.
Still struggling with injuries are, Ian Stevenson, Nick Clayton and Phil Slade, whilst Lee Hooper is required by the county.
Striker Matt Upton is working weekends now right up until Christmas, whilst Steve Walker is also away in London.
As if this wasn't enough, Town have a major crisis in goal, keeper Dave Alden is away with his company in the Lake District, something the club have known about for several weeks, but with reserve team keeper Barry McClean also required by the county, Town are struggling to find a goalkeeper.
Town general manager Richard Anson explained: "We did not have an issue with Dave being away as it gave us an opportunity to give Barry a start, but the county have now re scheduled their game a week earlier and left us high and dry.
"There might be a chance Dave could still make it, as we do not really want to withdraw Barry from the county, indeed I am not even sure if we are able to, but this could not have come at a worse time for us, especially against Causeway.
"The county game also deprives us of Lee Hooper and in addition to the injury problems, the unavailability of Steve and Matt is really going to make life difficult for us. I think we will be having a count up on Saturday morning and it might be that Joe and myself will have to dig out our boots!"
Town were expecting to sign at least one new face on Wednesday evening.
Town boss Joey Rawle will select from: Alden, Higgins, Davies, Cotterill, Damore, Taylor, Simpson, Mogford, Holmans, Ward, Brooks, Thomas, Dugdale, Stevenson, Slade, Clayton and Hughes.
On Tuesday (December 11) Town line up against another team with Championship aspirations, when Tividale visit the Langland Stadium (7.45pm).
The Town U18 side have an attractive Second Round Midland Youth League Cup game next Thursday (December 13) when West Bromwich Albion visit the Langland Stadium, kick off is 7.30
