A STORM of "considerable violence" raged for about two hours on Sunday evening, according to the Malvern Gazette 100 years ago.
"Several broken windows and damage to roofs and trees have been reported. The most serious of them was at Pembroke, Priory Road, the residence of the Rev W J and Mrs Povey," reported the paper. "A large tree was uprooted in the gardens of the Priory and blown across a footpath against Mr Povey's residence with such violence as to force a number of bricks into the bathroom, damaging the bath and other articles. The tree narrowly escaped the chimney.
