THREE Romans were guards of honour at the opening of a new council area office in Alcester on Friday.
Stratford Council has spent £1million pound refurbishing the former magistrates court at Priory Road into a new office called Globe House, which will provide a one-stop-shop for public services.
It was opened by Councillor Les Topham, escorted by a centurion, a standard bearer and legionary, all in full military dress from historical society The Ermine Street Guard.
Globe House will provide services by the district council, Warwickshire County Council, Alcester Town Council, Citizens Advice Bureau, Community Education, Registrar and the Council for Voluntary Services.
The building will in due course also house a new heritage centre.
