HOUSEHOLDERS in Barnt Green can have their say on plans to spend £20,000 improving the village -- if they attended a public meeting on Monday night.
Bromsgrove District Council has put aside the cash to enhance the character of the village's conservation area which was designated in September last year.
Scores of people packed into Lickey Parish Hall, in Old Birmingham Road, on Monday night for a presentation on the proposals which include traffic management, footpaths, street furniture, signs and tree felling and surgery.
Those who attended the public meeting were handed response sheets to ask questions and make comments to the authority which will look at the views before making any decisions. It is not obliged to accept the views of those not at the meeting.
The cash has been earmarked for this financial year.
Fourteen trees look set to be felled in Fiery Hill Road as part of the proposals and replaced during the next planting season with tulip or hornbeaam trees, and eleven other trees are to be subject to surgery.
Other plans include replacing footpath and bridleway signs, along with finger posts and road name plates.
Street light replacement and painting in a consistent style and colour are other proposals along with initiatives to co-ordinate signs and street furniture and install benches and sculptures.
Another aim of the initiative is to help ensure necessary traffic management measures including speed restrictions and gateway features are sympathetic to the village scene.
