MANY people have been aware for some considerable time that the provision of parking spaces at Worcester's new hospital is woefully inadequate.
I cannot understand why it took until November for an application to provide more parking spaces to be brought to our planning committee.
The reason for a decision being deferred was for a better scheme to be brought forward.
The concern expressed by the Community Health Council is understandable.
It's quite clear that, while a choice of forms of transport is desirable, one must face the reality that for staff who must come and go at all hours, and for patients who by definition will be in need of care and attention, travel by car will certainly be the best if not the only option.
Your editorial is spot on in saying that, at a time when patients or their visitors' nerves are under strain, the last thing they will need is a parking nightmare.
An early resolution of the problem of adequate parking provision is vital.
ROBERT ROWDEN,
Leader of the City Council.
