Woodrush 17 Stourport 5
WOODRUSH recorded their first league win in some style but the celebrations were marred by a serious facial injury to captain Paul Moore after a stamping incident requiring seven stitches.
The hosts had run in two tries, created by the backs in their own half, when he left the field.
Veteran centre Chris Chance returned to help shore up the defence to good effect.
After ten minutes fly half Andrew Poole made a break from a scrummage on the half-way and released Chance who ran in under the posts, Jacko Maddocks converting.
With ten minutes of the first half remaining Chance embarked on a long loop run on the blind side of the pack, before releasing full-back Nigel Simons who ran in to score under the posts.
Maddocks again converted and added another penalty.
Stourport controlled a large part of the second half through the penalty count recorded against an ill-disciplined Woodrush.
But the visitors could only manage one try for their efforts, scored with ten minutes remaining and although they tried valiantly hardly posed any threat to the home side.
