TOWNSPEOPLE are invited to attend Redditch Folk Club's Christmas party on Saturday, which will include a form of traditional theatre called a 'mumming' performance.
Mumming is usually performed by all-male groups and stories tend to reflect the death of the old year and the birth of the new.
It is often represented as a fight between two protagonists such as George and the Dragon and draws heavily on English folklore.
The event takes place at the folk club's usual base, the White Hart pub, Headless Cross, from 8.30pm and admission is free, although there will be a collection for the mummers.
