A last-minute goal by Derek Hall gave Solihull Borough a 2-1 win against Evesham United in the second round of the Dr Martens Cup at Common Road last night.
United showed a vast improvement in the wake of Saturday's 6-0 defeat against Chippenham Town but were guilty of conceding two sloppy goals that ensured the visitors a passage into the third round.
The Robins looked the better side in the first half and took the lead on seven minutes. Shaun Pratt collected a pass from Andy Smith and burst through the defence before beating Mike Payne with a powerful finish.
Against the run of play Solihull levelled in the 32nd minute. The home defence were unable to clear their lines following Richard Beale's cross and Hall rammed the equaliser past Danny Watson.
Watson made excellent saves in the second half to deny Beale and Peter Sutton, but with extra-time looming, Solihull grabbed a last gasp winner.
Poor defending again saw United fail to deal with another Beale cross, and the ball bobbled around in the area before Hall stroked home the winner past a diving Watson.
