TWO Redditch mums who fought to save school escorts' jobs will hear this week whether their fight has failed.
Collette Kearney, of Ibstock Close, Winyates, and Maureen Woollaston, of Evesham Road, Crabbs Cross, appealed for the two former Redditch Community Transport staff to be kept on after jobs and contracts were axed in September.
They feared the loss would have a serious effect on their children, who have special needs and who had learned to trust the escort and driver who took them to Chadsgrove School, Bromsgrove.
Worcestershire County Council stepped in, hiring minibuses manned by the same RCT drivers and escorts but this arrangement is due to end when the school term finishes next week.
County council network co-ordinator Peter Roberts confirmed the temporary arrangements would finish next week and the contract had been put out to tender, although he said no promise could be made that the current driver and escort would be kept on.
