WE are all paying a "carbon tax" on the use of fossil fuels in our nation and we are being told that, because of traffic congestion, billions are to be spent upon public transport schemes.
We are also being told that we're to be taxed out of our cars, in order to improve our environment, combat global warming, and to reduce traffic congestion upon our roads.
Against that background of environmental disaster and traffic congestion, can anyone explain why it was reported on CNN that our government is now seeking to increase our country's population by 10 per cent (six million) through immigration, over the next 25 years?
And can anyone explain why it's now being proposed to build another four million homes, in our green and pleasant land, to accommodate those six million new immigrants, regardless of the environmental damage and congestion that will be caused by such extensive new redevelopment?
Why are we being told that we're damaging our environment, that we must use our cars a lot less, and that we must be taxed off congested roads, while the Government is planning to increase the number of people in our nation, by six million? Are they stark raving mad?
Or are all the taxation measures - now in place to tax fuel use, and increase public transport - simply devices to allow the Government to squeeze another six million of us into our tiny, and already overcrowded island?
Another six million people means the building of 60 more cities the size of Worcester.
Where are they going to put them?
N TAYLOR,
Worcester.
