POLICE will be carrying out roadside checks in Redditch next week as part of a campaign over the festive season to push home the perils of drink driving.
The campaign was launched at West Mercia Police HQ yesterday when a hearse, ambulance, police car, bus and taxi were lined up, posing the question 'Who's taking you home tonight?'
The checks aim to target the "irresponsible minority who ignore the force's anti-drink drive message and cut death and injury on the roads.
They will be combined with high-profile policing to encourage good driver behaviour and deter those who may be tempted to have a drink before sitting behind the wheel.
Road Safety Officer Sgt Roberts said unmarked police cars would also be used and patrols would pay particular attention to vehicles leaving licensed premises.
