THE recent meeting was well attended. Delicious food was set out and there were too many raffle prizes for the winners to be mentioned. There were two games won by Audrey Kendall and Cathryn Hughes.
There was a rendition of 'I remember it well' from Gigi, beautifully performed by the elegantly dressed Pat and Gareth Edwards, accompanied by Gwyneth Thomas.
This was followed by supper, chatter and bonhomie. The observant may have noticed the disappearance of several members. Soon a bewigged, woebegone Gareth Edwards was centre stage as Cinderella for a homemade pantomime.
Tom Thomas was the fairy godmother, Iris Morgan the wicket stepmother, Mayrose Warner and Mary Williams the ugly sisters. Bethan Bishop played Prince Charming and unsuspecting Phyllis McCann and Hywel Morgan were roped in as bridesmaid and best man.
Marion James was persuaded on to the stage to dance the Can Can. Gwyneth Thomas was accompanist and narrator, Tom Bishop technician.
During the ballroom scene the audience became party guests and joined in an eightsome reel. The script - of rhyming couplets, references to Wales and the Society, with many impromptu additions - was written by Bethan Bishop and Gwyneth Thomas.
The evening finished with the singing of 'Calon Lan' and wishes of Nadolig Llawen (Happy Christmas). All great fun.
