PULSES were certainly racing for scores of women when they mistook two paramedics for the strippers they had come to see at a Hopwood hotel.
The Westmead was holding one of its regular themed nights called The Full Monty and paramedics were called when a woman became ill.
But as the ambulancemen arrived, they were met by frenzied females who believed their "strippers" had arrived.
Paramedic Frank Knight said: "When the crew got there they were met by the manager, who informed them there were several hundred women inside the room waiting for a stripper.
"The crew thought he was winding them up until they went in and the place just erupted."
Mr Knight said women were cheering, clapping and shouting 'get em' off'. And it got worse when they brought in a stretcher, which resembled a bed.
He added: "They have these stripper nights regularly and there were a lot of women there on things like office parties, so you can imagine the atmosphere."
Paramedic Marc Paterson said: "I think they would rather have paid me to put my clothes back on if they saw me undressed."
Mr Knight said: "I don't think the crew should give up the day job."
The poorly woman recovered soon after being taken to hospital.
A hotel spokesman said it was a very rare incident.
