Bretforton 1 BAC 0
BRETFORTON entered Satur-day's home game hoping to end a disappointing run of results.
From the outset their more positive frame of mind shone and they forced the visitors to defend for much of the first half.
Following 20 minutes of constant pressure the hosts forced a short corner. It was played to Sophie Corbett who returned it to Julie Hall. She managed to dig the ball out from the BAC keeper's pads and Lisa Workman forced the ball home.
BAC did produce spasmodic attacks down the right, however player of the match Julie Stowe prevented anything productive coming from the danger area.
The second half continued in much the same way with attacks from Sarah Hall and Deb Slatter turning the BAC defence inside and out only for excellent goalkeeping to prevent the home side going further ahead.
Pressure was finally rewarded when Bretforton were awarded a penalty flick midway through the half. Stowe stepped up to take it but the keeper saved the shot.
The visitors now stepped up a gear and forced the home side to defend deep. Bret keeper Fiona Baldeli was called into action on several occasions while the visitors had a goal disallowed before the final whistle.
Bretforton entertain Lansdowne II on Saturday in a friendly that will complete their 2001 fixtures.
