THREE sites have been given City of Worcester Awards for their environmental contribution.
Warner Village multiplex cinema in Friar Street, the Department of Art and Design at Worcester College of Technology and the Choir House at the King's School received plaques in recognition of their architectural achievements.
Worcester City Council decided to give the awards to the recipients who had made the most positive contributions to the environmental qualities of Worcester.
The council's principal conservation officer Will Scott said he was impressed with the high standard of architecture in Worcester.
"The three awards are well deserved," said Mr Scott.
"The cinema site was a difficult one and the overall package they put together was very good and ingenious.
"The Art and Design department just goes to show how an area at the back of a building can have something of elegance built on to it and The Choir House is a good demonstration of what you can achieve with a good architect and wasted space."
The awards were presented at the Guildhall last night.
