WORCESTER Rugby Club's highly rated academy coach Carl Douglas has joined Gloucester.
The 37-year-old, who has helped to produce an outstanding crop of under 21 talent at Sixways, has been appointed Gloucester's new academy director.
He will be responsible for coaching 25 of England's most talented young players as well as overseeing Gloucester's own academy system.
"The main emphasis will be on bringing young players through to Premiership and national level," said Douglas. "Gloucester has a huge tradition of rugby and is such a massive rugby city that the expectations will be very high."
Douglas taught rugby at both Royal Grammar School, Worcester and South Bromsgrove High.
Meanwhile, Worcester trialist Simon Lewis impressed last night with two tries in a 29-25 win for the Warriors over Rugby Lions.
The former Bradford Bulls academy player has been on trial and could feature in Monday's second team game with Leicester. Alistair Murdoch, Steph-en Vile and Peter Knight were the other try scorers.
