HOCKEY: Hopes of a high finish for Kidderminster Boundary men's firsts were dealt a further blow with a 3-2 home defeat to Sikh Union in DTZ Midlands Division One.
Simon Burkes and Mark Taylor were the pick of the players for fifth-placed Kidderminster who were top earlier in the season.
Union, from Nottinghamshire, scored once in the first half and doubled the score soon after the break.
Mark Wheeler pulled one back for Kidderminster but Union added a third.
Ross Hodson managed to narrow the gap and Kidderminster deserved to draw level with some good hockey but missed their chances.

Kidderminster dominated for much of the game, scoring twice in the first half through Rupert Upshon and Paul Edwards.
Paul Grummitt sealed Stratford's fate in the second half though the home side missed a penalty flick near the end.
There were good displays from Edwards and Ed Lang.

Kidderminster took the friendly honours in a Worcestershire derby with Malvern.

Kidderminster, looking to win their second game in a row, did well to hold out early on.
But Keith Burgess put them ahead on the break and the rest of the first half evened out.
Kidderminster increased the lead through Daren Jackson but Wolverhampton responded, giving the impressive keeper Stuart Wharton no chance.
There was a good performance from Kevin Gale, who man-marked Wolverhampton's danger man, along with a fine debut from Lee Meola in attack.

Mike Wakenshaw was on target for Kidderminster as the fifths took a hammering.

Kidderminster Ladies 0
Kidderminster failed to put away their opportunities on goal in Saturday's away defeat.
When they were awarded numerous second-half short corners, the visitors either sent them wide or allowed the Harborne defence to get the ball away.
Harborne eventually broke through and scored the winning goal which went in off the near post.
Kidderminster continued to press and were unlucky to come away with no points.
