GOLF: Wet and windy conditions failed to put off more than 110 players, the largest entry yet for the fourth annual Men's Christmas Open Pairs at Wyre Forest.
Result: Alistair McBeth and Robert Smith (Wyre Forest) 40 points, Alf Brookes and George Coffin (Hilltop) 39, J O'Toole and M Twist (Penn GC) 38, David Hadley and Jim McIntyre (Wyre Forest) 38, Malcolm Dobson and Bob Haddow (Wyre Forest) 37.
Best gross score: Bob Lawrence (Wyre Forest) and Jason Sunderland (Cleobury Mortimer).
McBeth and Pete Dolan won the longest drive on the 14th hole, hitting 250 yards into the wind.
And Forest members also took the nearest the pin on the fifth hole.
