A MUSICAL instrument bought with public money has been stolen from outside a Kidderminster musician's home.
The £1,000 cornet, paid for by the National Lottery, was taken last Wednesday night or early Thursday morning from Simon Clifford's Ford Sierra.
It was parked in front of his home in Waterside Grange.
Mr Clifford, 31, an electrical engineer, plays for the Kidderminster Royal British Legion Band. band member Simon Clifford ponders the theft of a cornet.
He joined after hearing them rehearse earlier this year.
Also taken was a baton he used to conduct the band and a mouthpiece to hit higher notes.
He said: "I am really upset as the cornet is by one of the best makers."
Mr Clifford will try to claim a replacement on insurance so both he and the three other cornet players in the band can continue to enjoy the instrument's "rich sound."
It was in a dark brown case with the maker's name - Boosey and Hawkes - embossed on it.
Anyone who can help can contact Kidderminster Police on 01562 820888.
