Bretforton VIC 2,
Mickleton Rgrs 1
VIC brushed aside the troubles of this season with a deserved victory over a useful Mickleton Rangers side on Sunday.
Vics have lost no fewer than seven players from last season's championship side, a fact that infuriated club official Keith Mitchell.
"I just don't understand it,"said a bemused Mitchell. "Considering that we have won three championships out of four and have been champions for the last two seasons it is ridiculous."
Former manager Nick Porter was recalled for this entertaining fixture which saw the visitors take the lead after a goalless first half, the highlight of which was Mickleton keeper Nick Ellis's penalty save from Paul Jones after the keeper himself had been penalised for bringing the Vics man down.
Giant centre back Kevin Reason converted a 47th minute penalty to put the visitors ahead after Matt Roff had been fouled by Chris Wright, a decision hotly disputed by the Bret defence.
Jon Gregory equalised for Bretforton with a first-time effort after Ellis had palmed away Carl Troughton's cross.
And it was "Gaffer" again who came to his side's rescue when he powered home a header from substitute Sean Barber's cross.
