Bishampton 2, Worcester City 3

BISHAMPTON lost last Saturday's close-fought game when they conceded two goals in the last eight minutes.

A youthful City team had the better of the early exchanges when they gave Bishampton no time to settle.

Although seeing plenty of the ball, City failed to create any clear chances and their first opportunity was from the penalty spot after Jon Warman had been brought down. Fortunately for the home side Lloyd's spot kick was high and wide.

Bishampton gained encouragement from this and began to move the ball around better. In the 21st minute, Carlo Longhi passed the ball to Matt Bicknell whose shot hit the bar but Greg Mason followed up to head in the rebound.

The visitors were level on the half-hour when, following a corner and goalmouth scramble, the referee adjudged the ball to have crossed the line.

The game, sponsored by F I Morris & Sons, Builders, swung back in Worcester's favour and they were awarded a second penalty just before the break but Rob Bille saved well to deny City the lead.

The second half started with City playing nice football, and moving the ball confidently around the pitch, but posing little threat to the home defence.

It was United in fact who looked the more likely to score and they were rewarded midway through the half when 16-year-old Myles Fenn played the ball through for Andrew Murphy to score.

Bishampton were comfortable in holding the lead until an unlucky own goal eight minutes from time put City back in the driving seat.

As Bishampton defender Adrian Newbon tackled City's Broadbent in the area the ball ran loose and slowly dribbled into the corner of the net.

The young City side were now chasing victory and they got it when Ray Woods ran from his own half before playing a one-two on the edge of the area and shooting past Bille.
