Handrahan Timbers 2,
Pershore Town 3
PERSHORE Town collected three points despite being without injured goalkeeper Neil Turner and midfielder Simon Brain.
Sixteen-year-old youth team keeper Tom Newell deputised and played his part in the victory.
Timbers had the early chances as Mitchell Lester hit wide from ten yards and Paul Raybould's cross was headed over by Adam Rose.
A pass by Chris Jew up the touchline was collected by Steven Spencer and his cross to the far post was hammered home by Richard Congrave to give Town a seventh minute lead. Congrave was involved in the second goal when his cross dropped for Lee Tustin to tap the ball into goal after 22 minutes.
Newell was tested in the 37th minute when he held a dangerous cross but, just a minute after the restart, he dropped a centre and Dean Evans took advantage.
Two minutes later Spencer's pinpoint free-kick was powerfully headed in by Congrave for his seventh goal in five appearances.
At 3-1 up Pershore had the chances to tie up the points but it was the Timbers who shook the visitors when Lester prodded the ball home.
Newell was forced into a great save with his feet on the stroke of full-time to prevent an equaliser.
