A TALENTED Kidderminster woman who rubbed shoulders with the stars at a prestigious London stage school is hoping to pass on her experience to students of her own.

Rebecca Green, 21, finished an "eye-opening" two-year stint at the Italia Conti Academy - where she met distinguished former students in the shape of Naomi Campbell and stars from Five and Steps, as well as Madonna's choreographer - in the summer. First Act Theatre Arts students Dominic Ganderton, Catherine Booth, Claire Randle and Hannah Fain line up with their new teacher Rebecca Green.

And she has just taken over Kidderminster's only stage school, the First Act Drama Group, from Mary Kavanagh, who had employed her as a singing teacher before she won the scholarship to the London school.

She has big plans, including expanding the curriculum for about 50 seven to 19-year-olds from across Wyre Forest to include singing, dancing and drama - and renaming it First Act Theatre Arts to reflect these changes.

And it was her time at the Italia Conti Academy that has equipped her with such a broad range of experience to draw upon.

"Before I went there I was just a singer but I trained in all three disciplines - it was brilliant," she said.

"Obviously I can pass all of that on now. I'm trying to encourage everyone to be an all-rounder - it's really important nowadays that you can do more than one discipline."

Rebecca, of Oakhill Avenue, will also introduce a class for four to seven-year-olds, hold shows every term at the group's Holy Trinity School base and a big annual event at Stourport Civic Centre.

She said: "It will give the students who do not want to take exams something to work towards.

"I always thought I would like to have my own stage school. It's nerve-wracking but eventually I want to build up enough revenue to open my own premises and run it every night instead of just Fridays and Wednesdays."
