HEARTFELT thanks have gone out to the generous supporters of the Tree of Light in Droitwich Spa -- which looks to exceed last year's success.
Already £1,000 has been raised by people who have honoured a loved one this Christmas by sponsoring a light on the cedar tree, in Victoria Square.
The innovative charity venture is being led by the Rotary Club of Droitwich Spa Saltway, in aid of St Richard's Hospice, of Worcester.
Cash is rolling in and residents still have time to make a donation.
Rotarian Nigel Reader said: "This has been a marvellous effort.
"We are expecting to exceed last year's contribution of £1,300, especially as the campaign will continue until January 6.
"We are very grateful to several town companies who have made kind donations and to the Droitwich Spa Advertiser which has done so much to aid us with their great interest."
The names of loved ones feature on printed sheets, which are updated each week, and put on show in the town library, opposite the tree.
To take part simply fill in the pledge form.
They are also available from the Advertiser's High Street office and Droitwich Post Office, St Richard's Hospice Shop and Lloyd's TSB, in Victoria Square, where the donations and forms have to be returned to.
The festive feature will twinkle brightly until January 5.
