A STAR superintendent of the Kempsey St John Ambulance has retired after 25 years' service.
Fiona Harrison wrote a special carol for a Nativity Concert held at St Mary's Church to mark the occasion of her retirement.
Mrs Harrison, who was known for her strong organisation, retired at the same time as first aid teacher Duncan Smith and his wife Beverley.
"Everybody enjoyed the service," said 57-year-old Mr Smith. "We've had so much fun. I feel sad to leave as the kids are lovely."
Mr Smith joined the Kempsey St John Ambulance 32-years-ago and his wife joined soon after.
They worked with youngsters aged five to 10, who were St John Ambulance members.
Mrs Harrison, from Brookend Lane, Kempsey, started a group for youngsters called the Badgers, who became the Hubbard Sett.
"At the same time she also ran the cadets as well," said Mr Smith, from Falcon Close, St Peter's. "She was always writing something. Fiona has done all the organisation and all the work and is a star."
