MALVERN Town's up and down season was illustrated in the last two games that saw them gain a deserved point against Express & Star Premier Division leaders Causeway United and then lose at home the following Tuesday.

Town general manager Richard Anson said: "As good as we were against Causeway, we let ourselves down on Tuesday, in the 1-0 defeat at home to Tividale.

"Our passing lacked conviction and we never really hurt them, although to be fair we probably created the better chances on the night, and we do not know how Ian Stevenson failed to score in the second half and Chris Thomas was denied by a brilliant save."

"But what annoyed me was that we talked about what we had to do during the interval, but then went out and played a completely different game.

"However we have an opportunity to put it right on Saturday and we expect the players to respond and play to their capability, they have done that twice against Causeway this season, who to my mind are the best team in the league, so it makes it all the more disappointing when we do not do it against the lesser sides."

Sean Cotterill and Keith Holmans are both expected to return for tomorrow's (Saturday) match at home to Brierley Hill & Hagley Alliance (2.45) having missed the midweek 1-0 defeat at home to Tividale.

Town will select from: Alden, Higgins, Damore, Davies, Cotterill, Clayton, Walker, Taylor, Ward, Holmans, Simpson, Mogford, Hooper, Thomas, Stevenson and Brooks.

Town drew 1-1 at Brierley Hill back in October.

Anson also confirmed that Town are on the verge of appointing a new first team coach.

"I have offered the position to someone, but they are not in a position to start until the first week of January, but in principle the person has agreed, save one or two things that have got to be sorted out, but I am not expecting any problems," he said.
