A driver escaped with his life from the twisted wreckage of his Peugeot 205.
Fire crews from Malvern and Worcester had to cut off the roof to free him after an accident on Blackmore Park Road.
The collision between the Peugeot and a stationary removal van belonging to Francis of Malvern took place at around 2.35pm on Tuesday.
Leading firefighter Adrian Thompson said it took about 20 minutes to free the driver of the Peugeot.
"His legs weren't trapped but the dashboard had come forward and the rest of the car had closed in around him," he said.
"He has chest injuries but he's lucky to be alive."
The man, who has not been named, was taken to the accident and emergency department at Ronkswood. He was detained for further treatment. The driver of the removal van driver was unhurt.
Police are examining both vehicles to piece together what happened. The crash took place about 200 yards from the accident blackspot at the crossroads on Blackmore Road.
