COLWALL Cricket Club recently held its 129th annual dinner at the Pavilions, Ledbury Rugby Club where there was a full turn out of 114 players and members.
Guest speaker was John Holder, England umpire and Hampshire player and a thanks and toast was provided by the Rev Mike Vockins.
A resume of the season was given by club captain David Sutton. The presentation of the awards was given by club chairman Alastair Smith. The evening took its usual format with thanks to the caterers SJS Catering.
The following were awarded trophies: George Berry Batting Trophy - David Powell; Noel Smith Bowling - James Wagstaff; 2nd XI Player of the Year - Martin Oliver; 3rd XI Player of the Year - Richard Lewis; Young Player of the Year - Josh Hornyold; Philip Smith Under 13 Improvement Cup - Christopher Elsden; Centurion Ties - David Powell, Will Hards; Club Caps - David Powell, Barney Bamford, Will Hards; Six a Side - Dial A TV. A special award for 50 years of doing match teas went to Mrs Barbara Berry who was given a cut glass engraved flower vase with the CCC emblem.
Youth Awards: Under 16 - Matt King; Under 15 - Luke McQueen; Under 14 - Matt Fortman; Under 13 - Ollie Sloane; Under 12 - James Sheppard; Under 11 - Steven Coffey; Under 10 - Charles Guise. Girls Cricketer - Jenny O'Toole.
Clubman of the Year - Alastair Smith.
Stuart Lampitt will be providing next year's youth indoor coaching. It will be taking place at John Masefield High School during January and February followed by senior practice. The club have this year purchased a bowling machine which will be available for these sessions.
