A BROMSGROVE road looks set to remain closed until the New Year -- it was revealed this week.
Following a burst water pipe in Old Birmingham Road, more than two weeks ago, the road has been closed and in its monthly newsletter, Worcestershire Hi-ghways Partnership in Bromsgrove said the road will remain closed until sometime early in 2002.
On November 25, the 12-inch pipe running under the road burst at around 4.30am causing part of the road to collapse.
The pipe, which runs into the Lickey reservoir in Rednal, washed the foundations of the road away causing a landslide into a neighbouring field.
In his newsletter, The Road Ahead, partnership manager Jon Fraser said: "A fracture to the main in two places washed away a large section of the carriageway and footway, making the area dangerous.
"The road therefore will remain closed until further notice, expected to be sometime early in the New Year."
The carriageway kerbing and haunching works under way in nearby Holywell, Redhill and Manor lanes are continuing but, because of the collapse mentioned above the temporary closure of these roads will remain in force.
