A DISABLED Bromsgrove girl had all her Christmas wishes granted when she was whisked off to Lapland to meet Santa yesterday.
Karis Lane was the guest of honour during the four-day trip to Finland organised by professional photographer Gill Shaw and Finair sales manager for leisure Janet Farrier.
The 12-year-old, who has cerebral palsy, Turner's syndrome and Aspergers syndrome -- a form of autism, appeared in Gill Shaw's book, Slightly Offstage alongside the Prime Minister's wife, Cherie Blair.
The trip was organised as a treat, with her mother, Karen, and included a cruise on the Norwegian Fjords, a visit to a Finnish School and shopping at the Helsinki Christmas market.
She also visited a husky farm before meeting Father Christmas at his home in Lapland.
For the past five years Karen has been fighting for specialist tuition for her daughter.
Karis has been out of mainstream education since October 1999 when the High Court in London decided Worcestershire County Council did not have to pay the annual £40,000 tuition fees for the specialist Infield Manor residential school, in Sussex.
Before the trip, Karen said: "Karis is very excited about the trip. She has had a rotten time for the last couple of years and it will be a lovely treat for her."
