JOHN Norwood (You Say, November 28) takes a jaundiced view of Christianity, probably through lack of knowledge and personal experience.

Though those who hold to the Christian faith are in a minority, most recognise they fall short of what they believe and practice.

I always refuse to officiate at the re-marriage of a divorced person in church, because of the fact that marriage is the exclusive and permanent union of one man and one woman.

In Christian marriage the parties must declare that the marriage is permanent and exclusive if they are married in the Church of England.

There is much good in Roman Catholicism, though it contains doctrines that cannot be accepted.

Whatever people think of Jehovah's Witnesses, they should be admired for their tenacity and beliefs, though they are misplaced.

Perhaps, before belittling Christianity and those who practise it, Mr Norwood himself should do a little reading.
