PUPILS past and present have received prizes for achievement in their summer exams at a Worcester school.
Labour peer Lord Eatwell was guest of honour at the Royal Grammar School last night, as the school celebrated its pupils' achievements.
Headmaster Walter Jones told the crowded auditorium that although Lord Eatwell was not the first Labour Peer to be invited to the school, he was the first to accept.
"I have to say the last Labour Peer, who I invited here, declined on political grounds and I'm wary of embarking on some political comments in the presence of Lord Eatwell," said Mr Jones.
He spoke to the parents and pupils about the past achievements, both in and out of school, including drama, Duke of Edinburgh awards and external competitions.
"I'd like to pay tribute to all those who work here for their dedication to the interests of the pupils," said Mr Jones.
"One example last weekend, was the 31 boys who went to Germany to experience a Christmas market.
"The itinerary alone made me queasy, but the four members of staff seemed completely unfazed by it."
All of last year's Year 11 and Year 13 students received their exam certificates along with awards to other pupils at the school.
