KINGSLEY Jones is backing loan ranger Scott Barrow to win over the coaches at Worcester Rugby Club.

The 21-year-old former St Helens rugby league ace starred in his first game for Orrell on Saturday as part of a loan agreement between the two clubs.

And the Sixways skipper has no doubt that Barrow has a big future in the game.

"I think he is a very good player," said Jones. "He is obviously still very young and has time on his side. Yes, he's been a bit limited with his opportunities in the team but he has struggled a bit with injuries while Duncan Roke has come on to the scene and made a big impression.

"Things do change quickly, though, in sport. After a couple of disappointing results, the pressure could be on Duncan a little bit and by all accounts, Scott has been playing well."

Barrow was named man of the match in Orrell's 41-7 win over Esher on Saturday and also impressed in the midweek win for the Warriors.

He has another chance, before Christmas, to catch Worcester coaches' eye when he lines up for the second team against Leicester next week. And for Jones, the centre has made a wise decision with his loan switch.

"I understand his decision to go on loan," he added. "He is a young lad who just wants to play. He should be playing because, from what I've seen, he's got all the talent.

"I'm sure there is a future at Worcester for Scott -- it's just a matter of him getting his chance again and then taking it.

"He'll learn a lot from his loan move and will hopefully become a better player."
